Light Elf Mage WiP

Pose wont be the same as the concept art.
Will have two optional heads, two optional staffs, two different right arms (sword/spellbook).

I do know for certain Felix wasn't happy about the way the helmetless head looked so that's one thing that'll look different.

Critics:
- Yes, the helmet looks kind of odd, too warrior like. Maybe something like a circlet or a helm that let's her hair loose would be more suitable.
- The face and hair in the second draw make her look a little bit old. I think that you should give her a younger look, sexy as the dark elf sorcerer but in a different way, a clasic-elegant-sexy look... why can't she be sexy and a high elve mage?
- The pose seems too static, she needs some movement.

Well that's it, but I just remembered that Felix said that he was "doing the bits for the high elve mage" so the miniature must be finished xD

To me, i like the idea of the mask and i'd like the idea of some sort of back crest (something like what would be worn behind the head of a pharoah, sort of framing the head) To me a high elf needs to scream awesomely aloof and enlightened almost to an alien degree and to me head framing symbol and a mask. Crowns and tiaras and all that have been done and just don't get noticed anymore.

I don't like the staff overhead. I'd prefer something more domineering defiant and regal. Maybe a slamming down effect. Maybe instead of the book what about a levitating object, a sphere or crystal foci. Books are for humans who can't remember anything elves are beyond us. I like it female. I'd keep that.

Armor great, face... eh. I'm a fan of the mask so i don't care but the face needs to "calm down" to me. aloof, uncaring not threatened by other lowly types. She should not be impressed by what's she's fighting.

I agree with the two previous two posters on everything. The only thing I would want to add is even more robes; something that would partially cover the armour (but not too much).

Also an optional staff would be cool I think. Oh and some scrolls to.

WOW! Pass my compliments along to DEs Hanley for an out of this world concept! That is simply fantastic! Best High Elf design I have ever seen hands down. Don't muck about with it too much Felix! This is a ringer for certain!

Nice concept art. A little bit too GW though. Not crazy about the helmet, but the pose is great.

It's just too bad that this is the first, and last image we will see of this mini before its released.

Looking good. Like the helmet, not sure why - just looks good, slightly over the top and a bit pretentious - suits a high elf just fine
someone mentioned having a hand holding a crystal, i'd like to second that motion.
Could you reposition the staff, maybe have it pointing at the enemy?
Otherwise cool.

Ok, first impressions without reading other posts. I like the one with out the helmet, a mage needs to be able to see the whole battle field. I like the book in her hand and was thinking the sword could be on her hip. I looked closer at the staff and noticed it had blades at the top, so she doesn't need a sword. Someone said she looked old and I was trying to figure out why. I think it's because, the hair seems a little thin. Giving her some more hair might help with the sexiness that was talked about. The pose doesn't bother me much. Other choices might be a sphere in a out streched hand toward the enemy. Maybe you can do a crackling energy effect on the sphere. The Dark Elves have those Dragon like familars, maybe you can give a Hawk, cat, or something else. Also, she has a pouch at her side maybe it could be part open to see Scrolls, Potions, Rods or simular objects.

I actually really like the helmetless head, I'm not sure what Felix doesn't like? Maybe the hair would be difficult to mould like that?? Anyway I think all those options look really cool and I like the pose, would be interesting to see what the preferred pose is?

These are to first round of concepts - the bare head was updated - prettier with more hair now
Slight change to how the book was held and some additional details to the robes.

I like both concepts. The first one is a warrior like mage. One who may be found in an army. The second concepts looks more like an RPG character that doesn't need armor, since she has a big fighter to stand between her and her enemies. If I would need to choose (would buy both, I Think), I would go for the second option.

Something to consider is the context of where they will be. On a regular battlefield the second one would not look out of place at all. Standing back whilst the rest of the grunts duke it out. In an arena there is nowhere to hide, so the pose should be more agressive imo, so she looks like she is fighting for her (immortal) life.

Or in other words, unless this has already had a lot of sculpting done I think it needs to be a lot more dynamic. Having the robes flowing backwards (or forwards), and a swirling cloak would help a lot to show this.

The details are good imo, though some sort of elvish design sculpted on the cloak would add some detail to the back. Maybe take some of the metal out of the top helmet, she's only a wimpy girl elf

the lack of detail on the cloak will allow for some awesome freehand opportunities

i like the spellbook but the sword, while looking awesome, could be at a better angle

the helmeted head is very cool but a little over the top and the normal head looks to vacant, needs the hair to be more animated, as if the raw magical energy was flowing around her

Wow i wish time would go faster to see this wip, what about instaed of a staff she could be holding an orb or her hand could be open like she has just cast a spell
